Smoking increases back pain suffering

Smoking has been shown to increase back pain up to three times, when compared to non-smokers.

The two areas of the brain that connect pain had an increased association with people who smoked relative to people that did not.

Quitting smoking cut the chances of developing back pain as smoking makes individuals less resilent to pain.
